The design brief was simple:, colour and a place to relax. This South Belfast garden was shaded from poor plant placement, had lots of levels and used a poor choice of materials. We simplified the space and installed two patios made from large sandstone flags edged with Portuguese granite and insets, giving a brighter, more inviting space. We divided the space with complimentary coloured posts and planted tall grasses and herbaceous perennials to contrast with the static timbers. Close to the picture windows we drew inspiration from post modernism and brought the planting up to the window so from inside the house you feel the garden is part of the kitchen space.
