South Belfast Japanese Garden

It’s not often you get a client who asks you to design and build a Japanese garden. To create the style, we used timber deck boards to flow from their existing deck. This wooden path navigates its way through 48 tonnes of imported soil hills and finishes at a 4 metre square destination deck. Here you can view an original Japanese imported water feature, lantern and a Mourne granite gravel Karesansui dry landscape garden. The hills of soil are planted with various Japonica’s and classic Japanese garden favourites like acers, pines and bamboo’s. The best part of this garden, for me, is the client. We worked on their front garden in our first year of business and they came back to us 15 years later when they were ready to go East.

Kyle, I just want to say thank you for our beautiful garden. I still find it hard to believe that you were able to take my love of Japanese Gardens and wish list from my scrappy doodled drawing and turn it into a reality and then some!! With much discussion and laughter we have arrived at a garden that gives joy every day, because of your vision and planting knowledge. It’s a very different feel from our traditional Victorian front garden which you designed over 13 years ago, which only goes to show how talented a designer you are. Again thank you and the team for all the hard work. Just to let you know I recommend you to everyone who asks!!
