Ballyhackamore Yard & Cottage Garden

This gorgeous 19th century home needed its yard area renovated, coal house removed and garden redesigned and built. Scouring the reclamation yards of North Down, we were able to find original Scrabo stone window sills from an old church that we repurposed into steps. We used reclaimed 12” Belfast Quarry tiles to surface the area with a little bit of bedding space along the foot of the plaster removed walls to grow roses and herbaceous perennials. The back garden was divided with low Irish slate walls and a planter with pink and beige sandstone flags replicating the colours of Scrabo stone paving. The garden was planted with a variety of cottage garden self- seeding perennials.

Our experience of Kyle’s landscape business was great. Both Kyle and Aaron are highly professional and their guidance throughout the process was invaluable. Our garden has been transformed from a dull and lifeless space into somewhere we want to spend every spare minute we have. The Raveena sandstone paving and slate wall feature look beautiful and very well built whilst the planting was generous and well thought out. All the materials and plants blend beautifully together. We also had Kyle and Aaron rescue a very run down old courtyard with quarry tiles and sandstone steps; these tiles were salvaged and relayed. Kyle even searched the reclamation yards until they found us old Scrabo sandstone to rebuild steps that needed replaced. The end result was amazing. The team are very easy to work with and the quality of workmanship is excellent. We’re so glad that they were recommended to us.
